Note From the Founder,
Ruphina Pettis

SACC was started in order to provide our children with a place of their own- somewhere to learn, socialize and have fun. Through our use of mentors and tutors we offer homework assistance after school, instruction in literacy, art, music, computers and more.

I urge my fellow Africans to get involved in our mission to serve Chicago's African youth. Please support the non-profit organizations in our African communities. Become a mentor, tutor, board member or sponsor If you would specifically like to become involved with Sunlight African Community Center, please call, visit our center or send a tax deductible donation.

Thank you all ! We hope to hear from you soon.

We provide out youth with the tools to ensure academic success. We make after-school tutoring and homework help available for all children who come to SACC. Students work one-on-one with tutors on homework prolbems, thereby increasing their interest in completing homework by 40%.

We all work as a team to empower these children with skills and life direction, so that they can look forward to more than a life on the streets - a life they build with their hard work, creative thinking, and a standard of excellence.
